How To Verify Your Website On Pinterest

Posted on May 22, 2013

By verifying your website on Pinterest, other pinners are able to learn more about you product and company. Last time, we discussed how to convert your personal Pinterest account into a business account. In our next installment of getting the most out of Pinterest, now we will walk you through the steps of getting your website verified on Pinterest.

Step 1: List Your Website

After logging into your Pinterest account, go to "Settings" and list your website address. At present, Pinterest only allows for top-level domains to be listed, so you can't feature subdirectories or specific pages within your site's architecture. Also, if your business site is an eBay or Amazon store front for example or within another web domain, you will not be able to verify your site as is needed to complete this verification process.

Step 2: Download The HTML Verification File

You will now need to show Pinterest that you are in fact the owner of the website. You should see a "Download the HTML verification file" prompt. Click it to download the file you will need which will take you to a confirmation screen. Click on "Go To Pinterest" and you will return to the download screen and will be able to continue.

Step 3: Upload The HTML File

Now for some of the more technical work. You will need to upload the file that you just downloaded to your server. This should be a fairly easy step for your IT guy who has access to the server. If you are encountering any issues, feel free to give us a call and we'll help you out.

Step 4: Confirm

Once you have uploaded the HTML file, complete the process by clicking the "Click here" text on the verification screen. Pinterest will then confirm to see if the HTML file that was provided was placed on your site. If you do not see a success message, go back to make sure that you uploaded the HTML file into the proper area of the site.

And now your site is verified with Pinterest. Users can now navigate to your homepage from Pinterest to learn more about your products and company, providing you an entirely new stream of potential website traffic.
